Gourmet gold: Tasty truffles
You probably already know that I love great food. And visiting a really good restaurant is one of my favorite treats when I want to celebrate a personal achievement or just add a little sunshine in my life. Some food is surrounded by an almost mythical air of luxury. Like truffles. If a dish includes truffles it’s often regarded as fancy, delicious and exclusive.
If you’ve never had truffles before, you’re missing out on a great experience. Some say truffles tastes like “the fresh green forest floor in the summertime after a cooling rain”. I’d rather describe the taste as a bit ‘mushroomy’ with a hint of nuts. Or spelled out in English: it tastes really good. Truffles is found all over world, but Italy and France are the top truffle countries. So when I recently spent a week in France, I wanted to try it. Me and my friend were driving around on the Provence countryside and suddenly we struck gold: a restaurant that is specializing in truffles.
The restaurant is called Chez Bruno and is located about a 30 min drive from Saint Tropez. They’ve been around for 30 years and serve truffles in all forms and shapes - even desserts(!).
The menu changes daily and we went for a full-truffles-menu, and dug into one of the most fascinating lunches I’ve ever had, savoring these culinary masterpieces and enjoying the wonderful relaxed countryside vibe of the restaurant.
We all deserve some luxury every now and then. And on that afternoon we sure got a taste of that!
