Creating Art: a journey towards wellness and healing.
Creating art has always been important for me but when I was 19 and my career as model and influencer took off, I slowly drifted away from that kind of creativity. My new life demanded my full attention and for many years I lived a very hectic life, full of stress, pressure, personal challenges and experiences that sometimes weren’t good for my mental well-being. I never seemed to find the time for creating art and gradually I slipped into dark thoughts and self-doubt.
This last year I have changed my focus, re-discovering my true passions and using my past experiences to build a better future. Starting to paint again was a natural choice in that process. I love to paint, to have these creative solitary moments when I can be alone with my thoughts.
I’m always very quiet when I paint, when I’m in my zone. When I create art, I find the peace and time to process all the things that goes on in my life. I’m alone with myself and my art, I have a safe place to talk with myself and grow as a person – and as artist.
I guess some of you have felt undervalued and misunderstood sometimes. I’m sure many of you have been hurt, had your heart crushed to pieces or met people that don’t have the best intensions and have tried to use you for their own benefit. Maybe you have questioned your career choices or wondered if there’s something wrong with you?
Don’t worry, you are not alone. Many of us have been there.
It’s OK to feel vulnerable - and there’s always a way forward. A path that helps you grow as a person and find emotional well-being.
It’s super important to focus on self care, engaging activities that bring you joy and relaxation - like me doing art. Reconnect with your passions and take care of your physical and emotional well-being. Exercising and eating well is of course important, and so is getting enough rest. And having the support from friends and family. And don’t forget self compassion. Be kind to yourself!
It’s s gradual process of course. We need to be patient with ourselves and remember that it’s ok to take as much time as we need. Avoid self blame and understand that you are worthy of love and respect. Focus on personal growth and set personal goals to rebuild your confidence.

These are things that I think about when I create my art. Alone in my garden with my canvas, my paint and my creativity. I hope you can find that same peaceful zone where you can start your journey to become a better version of yourself.
And remember: healing takes time and it’s OK to have setbacks!
Art helps me. It’s my passion.
I hope you find yours, to help you on your journey.
