Discover Venice: Hidden Gems and Cinematic Vibes for Your Next Trip
When November feels grey, and Christmas still seems too far away, why not treat yourself to a weekend in Italy? For me, Venice has always been the perfect escape. I’ve been visiting for years, and every time I go, I fall in love with it all over again. There’s something so cinematic about this city - like stepping into another world, full of hidden corners and magical views that most tourists never notice.
One such gem is the Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo. It’s a little palace tucked away in a quiet calle (that’s Italian for “street”), not far from the famous, always-packed Rialto Bridge. The beauty of it, though, is that it’s just hidden enough that most people don’t find it. The Palazzo is known for its amazing spiral staircase with multiple arches, winding up to an arcade where you get the most stunning views of the Venetian rooftops. So skip the Campanile in Saint Mark's Square and head to the Palazzo del Bovolo instead!
And of course, a trip to Venice isn’t complete without a ride on one of those iconic water taxis. There’s something so classic about hopping into one of these boats - it's like going straight back to the glamour of the ‘50s, when stars would arrive in style. Taking a water taxi from the airport to your hotel is definitely something you won’t forget anytime soon. It’s all about the vibes!
For art lovers, Venice has something really special too: The Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Right on the Grand Canal, it was Peggy Guggenheim’s home from 1949 until she passed away in 1979. It’s now a museum filled with masterpieces from Europe and the US’s greatest modern artists. Peggy herself was such a trailblazer - a strong woman who broke all the rules to follow her passion and build an incredible life in the art world, refusing to let men define her destiny. I think the world needs more Peggy Guggenheims. Strong women inspire me!
So if November’s getting you down, maybe it’s time for a little Venetian adventure. Venice might just be the escape you’re looking for!
