The most beautiful Palazzo in Palermo
Art is very important to me and on my travels I’ve been fortunate to visit many great museums, palazzos and art galleries. Art is a universal language that speaks to me and I love to explore new places to get inspired.
On my recent trip to Palermo in Sicily, I visited Palazzo Butera, a gorgeous Barouque-style aristocratic palace located on the seafront of the old Kalsa quarters. This place has everything you want from a Sicilian Palazzo, and I instantly fell in love it.
The estate was apparently not in good shape when it was acquired by current owners Francesca Frua de Angeli and Massimo Valsecchi some years ago, but they have since restored and developed the estate into a constantly evolving exhibition and research centre - filled with art, beauty and inspiring projects.
I was especially fascinated with the art of the British artist David Tremlett. It was a treat to just sit in front of his large artworks, sinking my mind into them and finding inner peace.
So if you happen to be in Palermo, be sure to visit Palazzo Butera. Thanks to the passion of its’ owners, it’s a gem that constantly changes, evolves – and inspires.
