Toulon: The city of fountains

Toulon is a seaside town located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southeastern France. It’s one of the ports we visited during my cruise with Virgin Voyages, and naturally I wanted to go ashore and take a look at the town.

The weather was perfect for wearing a white summer dress from ASOS, paired with a classic Panama hat from Accessorize.

I went for a walk in the Old Town, home of the celebrated Provençal market and filled with narrow streets and cosy small squares. The area is famous for its’ many fountains and one of the highlights was the beautiful Fountain of the Three Dolphins (Fontaine des Trois Dauphins) on Place Puget. The fountain was built in the 18th century and is one of the city's most famous symbols. It features a central column with three dolphins intertwined around it, supporting an ornate basin at the top - and all of it is totally overflowing with vegetation.

Place Puget and this lovely fountain is also a great place to find shadow on hot days and there’s plenty of cafés around.

Virgin Voyages’ cruises can be booked through Trending Travel.
